Black Box Istanbul is now officially opened with 2 sold out concerts of Travis and Bob Dylan. The 5.800 capacity hall is specifically designed for amplified music according to the 'Acoustics designed by Peutz' concept.
Music like it's meant to be
Everything possible is done to hear the sound from the musicians as it is, radiated by the loudspeaker system, without being distorted by delayed reflections from far away surfaces. Acoustically the hall is close to outdoor acoustics, however without the noise of other outside activities being present.
For a pop venue this means that special sound absorbing materials are applied on every possible surface, even the construction of tribunes are made with slits (a Helmholz resonator), ensuring a clear perceivable bass rythm in balance with the mid and higher frequencies.
Integral design team effort
During the design and building process of the Black Box all possible effort was made by the clients, the architect, the engineers and the building contractors to integrate the acoustic solutions to create an extraordinary experience for the audience as well as the artist. With the result that in every detail the Black Box is a state of the art venue, comparable only to the best halls in the world, like the Ziggo Dome and Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam.

The sound engineers of the Travis concert and of the Bob Dylan tour confirmed this on all aspects, they enjoyed the soundcheck as well as the performances. And the public just loved it.
